Relying on faith and love, Jennifer Ortiz walked the difficult path with her baby son after he suffered a massive stroke. She vowed to share her son’s story with the world to inspire others and to educate the community on pediatric strokes. Jennifer upheld her promise to her readers to always be honest and open regarding every aspect of their family’s journey through a horrific tragedy.
Jennifer is not new to tragedy as she lost her mother at age seven and a multitude of other family and friends throughout her life. However, she has always found comfort and healing in writing and through her blog helped others in similar situations heal as well. Jennifer’s life statement has always been, “Everyone has a story. It’s what you do with yours that counts!”
Jennifer attended North Lake College and is a licensed insurance agent and adjuster. She also helps her daughter, Emily, run the nonprofit corporation Emily’s Smile Boxes. You can find more information on this charity by visiting emilyssmileboxes.com. The charity has been recognized nationwide through various articles, blogs, awards, and television interviews.
In 2010 Jennifer’s family received the Pediatric Nursing Association’s Family of the Year award for all their work for the medical community. In 2014 Jennifer was recognized as one of the Miss Texas Women of Achievement honorees and an article on her blog has been featured in the Fort Worth Star Telegram. Jennifer has attended multiple speaking engagements to discuss how her writing has helped others and how her son inspired so many through his bright, shining smile.
